Privacy Policy

Introduction
Edmore (Private) Limited, doing business as Metana ("Metana", "we", "us", "our"), is committed to protecting the privacy of visitors and users across metana.io and related domains/services. This policy applies to all users of the site and services — registered or not — including prospective and enrolled students, alumni, event attendees, and office visitors. Employees and contractors of Metana are covered by this policy only when they interact with Metana's services outside the scope of their employment/contractor role (their employment-related data is governed separately).
Information We Collect
Two categories of information are collected: (1) Personal Information — information that identifies, relates to, or could reasonably be linked to an individual, such as name, email address, Social Security Number, financial/payment records, browsing/usage history, geolocation data, and professional/employment information; and (2) Non-Personal Information — any information that does not identify a particular individual (e.g., aggregated or de-identified data).
Information You Give Us or Give Us Permission to Obtain
Covers information voluntarily provided by users, including: registration details (name, email address, username, password, profile photo), course application and payment/billing information, data generated through participation in site features (forums, surveys, promotions), demographic information, communications/newsletter signup preferences, and content submitted through customer support requests or correspondence.
Information From Third Parties
Metana may receive information about users from third parties, including: connected third-party account services (e.g., Facebook, Google, LinkedIn login/social integrations), education and hiring partners, other service providers, financial institutions processing payments, government or public entities, and employers/recruiting partners. Data obtained this way may be retained by Metana even after a user deletes the associated third-party account.
Automatically Collected Information
When users interact with the site, Metana automatically logs certain technical data through standard web server/browser activity, including: log files, device/browser information (type, operating system), usage and navigation patterns (pages visited, time spent, referring URLs), and IP addresses.
Third Party Advertising Service Providers
Metana works with third-party advertising networks and analytics providers (e.g., ad servers, ad networks) who may place their own cookies/tracking technologies on users' devices to serve targeted ads and measure ad performance. Metana does not control these third parties' own data collection practices and directs users to those third parties' respective privacy policies/opt-out mechanisms.
Purposes for Collecting Personal Information
Personal information is used for nine primary purposes: (1) providing and operating the Services, (2) personalizing user experience, (3) troubleshooting and technical support, (4) sending service-related and marketing communications, (5) fraud and security/abuse prevention, (6) handling user-generated content, (7) advertising and marketing (including retargeting), (8) complying with legal obligations, and (9) aggregating/anonymizing data for analytics and business purposes.
Retention of Your Information
We retain your Information for as long as it is needed to provide you with Services, or for other purposes described in this Privacy Policy. Retention periods vary by the type of data and applicable legal/regulatory requirements; no single fixed retention period applies to all data types (contrast with the specific 18-month cookie expiry and 9-month IP-anonymization periods noted in the Automatic Data Collection Technologies section above).
User Rights
Users may access, correct, update, or limit use of their personal information via their account settings or by emailing Metana directly. Specific opt-out rights include: opting out of marketing emails (via unsubscribe link), opting out of SMS/text messaging (by replying "STOP"), and opting out of having information disclosed to third parties for their own marketing purposes. Metana may require identity verification before fulfilling a request.
California Privacy Rights Notice (CCPA)
California residents may request (up to twice per 12-month period, free of charge): the categories of personal information collected, the categories of sources, the business/commercial purpose for collecting/selling the information, the categories of third parties with whom it is shared, and the specific pieces of personal information collected. California residents also have the right to request correction and deletion of personal information, and the right to data portability/transfer. Requests may be submitted by an authorized agent with documented power of attorney; identity verification is required. We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of your rights under the CCPA. A detailed categorized breakdown of personal information collected and disclosed to third parties, mapped to CCPA-defined categories, is available on request.
Security
Metana maintains commercially reasonable physical, electronic and procedural safeguards to protect personal information. However, transmission of information via the internet is not completely secure, so no method of transmission or storage can be guaranteed 100% secure.
Linked Services
Metana disclaims responsibility for the privacy practices, content, or security of third-party websites, linked services, or advertising partners that users may access through the Metana site. Users are encouraged to review the privacy policies of any third-party site they visit.
International Data Transfers
Personal information may be transferred to, stored, and processed in countries other than the user's country of residence, which may have data protection laws that differ from (and may be less protective than) those of the user's home jurisdiction. Transferred data may also be subject to lawful access/disclosure requests by government authorities in those jurisdictions.
Changes To Our Privacy Policy
Metana reserves the right to modify this Privacy Policy at any time. Material changes will be announced (e.g., via notice on the site or direct communication), and where applicable users will be given a choice regarding how previously collected information is used going forward. Continued use of the Services after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
