Terms of Use

Users must comply by checking "Agree to Terms of Use" or by using the Services. The agreement applies to all users, including students, staff, mentors, and partners. Material changes are posted with updated effective dates; continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

Users must be 18 years or older, or between 13-18 with verifiable parental/guardian consent. Certain features may carry additional age or eligibility restrictions.

Registration can be completed via Facebook, Google, LinkedIn, or email/password. All submitted information must be accurate and current. Users are solely responsible for keeping login credentials confidential and are responsible for all activity under their account, whether or not authorized by the user.

Students must maintain current payment status to retain access to Programs. Metana reserves the right to restrict, suspend, or withdraw access to the Services at any time without notice. Some content may include digital rights management (DRM) technology that users must comply with.

The agreement remains in effect for as long as the user uses the Service. Metana may terminate or suspend a user's access for violations of these Terms, breach of institutional/Code of Conduct policy, or violation of a University Partner's policies. Obligations that by their nature should survive termination (e.g., payment obligations, IP provisions, indemnities, liability limits) continue to apply after termination.

THE METANA SERVICE PROGRAMS ARE NOT ACCREDITED. Certificates issued are not formal academic degrees and carry no academic credit. COMPLETION OF A PROGRAM IS NOT A GUARANTEE OF FUTURE EMPLOYMENT. Student work submitted must be original; sharing of work/solutions with others is prohibited. Cheating is not permitted. Any changes to program structure require Metana's authorization. Modules are only considered complete once all lessons, quizzes, and assignments within them are marked complete in the student dashboard.

Users must provide truthful registration information and keep it accurate/updated. Metana may request verification of information and may deny access if information is found to be inaccurate. Users must keep usernames and passwords confidential and may not share account access; Metana disclaims liability for any breach resulting from a user's failure to safeguard credentials.

Users must comply with the Code of Conduct, which prohibits: violating any law; transmitting abusive, harassing, defamatory, vulgar, or pornographic material; stalking, harassing, or bullying others; sending spam or unsolicited advertising; transmitting malware or harmful code; bypassing security features; impersonating others; and using automated systems/bots without authorization.

A. PAYMENT — Users must be 18+ to make a purchase. Full payment of all applicable fees and taxes is required when due. Metana may continue attempting to bill an expired payment method. Prices are fixed once a purchase is confirmed but may change prior to confirmation. Third-party payment processors, including Stripe, are used, and users must separately agree to those processors' terms.

CANCELLATION POLICY & 100% REFUND POLICY — A full (100%) refund is available if the student cancels within 14 calendar days of the LATEST of: the enrollment agreement signing date, the date the "Agree to Terms of Use" box was checked, the date of first payment, the date of first course login, or the Program Start Date.

WITHDRAWAL & PRO RATA REFUND POLICY — After the 14-day window, refunds are calculated pro rata based on progress, using whichever is GREATER of calendar weeks elapsed or the furthest module completed, per this schedule: Weeks 1-2 / Modules 1-2 = 100% refund; Weeks 3-4 / Modules 3-4 = 75% refund; Weeks 5-8 / Modules 5-8 = 50% refund; Weeks 9-12 / Modules 9-12 = 25% refund; Week 13+ / Module 13+ = No refund. The refunded amount is calculated on the total invoice value (or the Total Bootcamp Price), NOT the amount actually paid to date. Pro-rata refunds apply only to students who have fully paid their invoice; students on monthly payment plans are NOT eligible for pro-rata refunds except within the initial 14-day cancellation window.

BREAKS AND PROGRAM TRANSITIONS — Student-initiated breaks do not pause the refund policy clock. Metana-provided/approved breaks do pause the refund clock. Breaks do not count toward elapsed bootcamp weeks. Medical emergencies or other exceptional circumstances may qualify for pro-rated refunds on a case-by-case basis. Cancelling before the bootcamp starts yields a 100% refund; cancelling after commencement yields a pro-rata refund based on weeks/modules completed per the schedule above. Students on installment/monthly payment plans are generally ineligible for refunds outside the 14-day window.

B. SUSPENSION AND TERMINATION BY METANA — Metana may suspend access or issue a warning for: non-payment or payment issues; violation of the Terms or Code of Conduct; missed Program deadlines; or incomplete documentation (e.g., enrollment agreement left unsigned within 14 days). Suspension continues until the issue is resolved. Failure to resolve within 3 business days, or repeat violations, may result in permanent termination WITHOUT refund. Regardless of the reason for suspension or any break in participation, the student remains obligated to continue paying tuition fees until the full Program cost is paid.

C. REQUEST FOR BREAK — Users may request a break of up to 3 months. If a student fails to resume studies within three months, Metana reserves the right to terminate access to the Program. Re-enrollment after the break period expires is treated as a new admission, with no prior discounts carried over.

Metana Content includes videos, photos, text, software, scripts, graphics, sounds, and music. Metana's Marks (logos, trademarks) are protected by copyright and trademark law. Users may NOT copy, download, stream, capture, archive, upload, publish, broadcast, sell, modify, translate, decompile, disassemble, reverse-engineer, or otherwise exploit the Service or its content. The Service is intended for personal, non-commercial use only. Users must not remove copyright notices or circumvent any digital rights management (DRM) mechanisms.

By submitting User Content, users grant Metana a non-exclusive, fully-paid, royalty-free, transferable, irrevocable, perpetual, worldwide license to display, perform, distribute, modify, and create derivative works from that content. Users receive no compensation and have no expectation of privacy regarding submitted content. "You are solely and entirely responsible for the consequences of all User Content that you submit." Metana reserves the right to display advertisements alongside User Content.

Users warrant they own all necessary rights to the content submitted and that it does not infringe third-party rights. Metana may review or remove User Content that violates the Terms or applicable law, and users waive legal remedies against Metana in connection with User Content. Prohibited content includes material that: violates law or breaches contractual/fiduciary duty; contains malware or harmful code; is unlawful, harmful, threatening, abusive, defamatory, libelous, deceptive, fraudulent, or invasive of privacy; promotes racism, bigotry, or hatred; or contains explicit imagery or excessive violence.

Metana provides links to third-party websites/services but does not endorse them or verify their practices. "Metana does not verify, endorse, or have any responsibility for Third Party Services." Users interact with advertisers and third parties entirely at their own risk, and Metana assumes no responsibility for these relationships or resulting transactions. Metana does not pre-screen third-party projects/content and is not a representative, intermediary, partner, or joint venturer with any third party. Users waive legal or equitable claims against Metana concerning third-party projects or content.

Users grant Metana and its affiliates unlimited rights to freely use any feedback submitted, without restriction, compensation, or confidentiality obligation.

Communication methods on the Service are public, not private. User Content and communications are not pre-approved or endorsed by Metana unless expressly stated otherwise. Users consent to receive communications via email, in-Site messaging, and chat. Commercial notices can be unsubscribed from in accordance with CAN-SPAM laws, but administrative/transactional notices cannot be declined. Electronic communications satisfy any legal requirement that communications be in writing. Users may withdraw consent by emailing support@metana.io, though Metana may then mail required notices at the user's expense.

Metana reserves the right to modify or discontinue the Service, cancel Programs, or modify course content at any time without prior notice. "Metana is not liable to you for any changes, modifications, or discontinuation."

Metana assumes no responsibility for monitoring, or failing to monitor, the Service for inappropriate content, though it reserves the right to do so and to remove User Content without notice or obligation. Metana may access, preserve, and disclose account information if required by law, or when necessary to comply with this Agreement, enforce its rights, respond to third-party claims, provide customer service, or protect safety.

DMCA takedown notification procedures are provided. Designated Agent contact: support@metana.io. Counter-notices may be submitted; removed content may be restored within 10-14 business days at Metana's discretion. Users may be held liable for damages, including reasonable attorneys' fees, for bad-faith infringement claims.

Users agree to indemnify and hold harmless Metana, its affiliates, and associated parties from "any and all claims, liabilities, damages, losses, costs and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees)" arising from the user's use of the Service, breach of the Agreement, or User Content. Users release Metana from liability for third-party products, services, actions, or conduct.

WARRANTIES DISCLAIMER: "THE SERVICES...ARE PROVIDED ON AN 'AS IS' AND 'AS AVAILABLE' BASIS, WITHOUT ANY REPRESENTATION, WARRANTY OR CONDITION OF ANY KIND." Metana disclaims all implied warranties, including merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose, and is not responsible for: errors or inaccuracies; personal injury or property damage; unauthorized access to servers; service interruptions; malware or security risks; content-related losses; failure to meet educational or professional goals; third-party component failures; or transmission delays over networks.

LIABILITY LIMITATION: "METANA...SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY LOSS OR DAMAGE, OF ANY KIND, DIRECT OR INDIRECT...CONSEQUENTIAL, INCIDENTAL, INDIRECT, SPECIAL OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES." Where a jurisdiction does not allow exclusion of certain liability, liability is limited to the maximum extent permitted by law.

CLAIM FILING DEADLINE: "NO ACTION ARISING OUT OF THIS AGREEMENT...MAY BE BROUGHT BY YOU MORE THAN ONE YEAR AFTER THE CAUSE OF ACTION HAS ARISEN."

Services are controlled and offered from the United States. Metana makes no representation that the Service is appropriate for use outside the U.S./Canada. Users accessing from other locations do so on their own initiative and are responsible for compliance with local laws. Standard U.S. software export-control restrictions apply.

"YOU USE THE METANA SERVICE AT YOUR OWN RISK." Metana disclaims all warranties, express or implied, regarding accuracy, completeness, reliability, educational suitability, or fitness for individual needs. Services are provided without guarantees regarding quality, results, or appropriateness. Metana assumes no liability for content errors, inaccuracies, confidentiality breaches, personal injury, property damage, unauthorized access, service interruptions, malware, or educational/career outcome failures.

Any illegal or unenforceable provision is severable from the rest of the Agreement. The word "include" means "include, but not limited to." Metana's failure to enforce a right is not a waiver of that right. Users may not transfer/assign the Agreement, but Metana may assign it.

GOVERNING LAW AND JURISDICTION: "All matters related to the services and this agreement...shall be governed by and interpreted in accordance with the laws of England and Wales." "Any legal suit, action, or proceeding arising out of or related to this agreement and/or the services shall be exclusively brought in the courts of Colombo, Sri Lanka." Users waive objections to jurisdiction and venue in the Sri Lankan courts.

Headings are for convenience only and do not affect interpretation. This Agreement constitutes the entire understanding between the parties and supersedes all prior agreements on the subject matter.
